Aldeguer's Turn 16 Crash at Mandalika
Fermin Aldeguer will require surgery after suffering a broken right hand in a crash during the 2026 Indonesian MotoGP race at Mandalika on Sunday (11/10/2026). The incident ended the Gresini Ducati rider's weekend with a serious injury.
Aldeguer crashed at Turn 16 after a promising start to the race. The Spanish rider had climbed from sixth to fourth on the opening lap before the crash cut his charge short.
The crash was his fourth incident of the Mandalika weekend. Unlike the previous three, which he escaped without serious injury, this time the young rider was not so fortunate.

Aldeguer to Undergo Surgery in Barcelona
Gresini Ducati confirmed that Aldeguer suffered a fracture at the base of the first metacarpal bone in his right hand. The injury requires surgery.
In its official statement, the team said Aldeguer would fly back to Spain that evening and undergo surgery in Barcelona. The procedure will be handled by Dr. Angel Charte, MotoGP's Medical Director.
The team has not confirmed a recovery timeline or his availability for the next round. Aldeguer has one race-free weekend before the Australian MotoGP at Phillip Island.
Aldeguer's 2026 Injury Record
The Mandalika crash adds to a long list of physical setbacks Aldeguer has endured in the 2026 season. The right-hand injury is his third serious injury this year.
He previously missed preseason testing and the season-opening Thai GP with a thigh fracture. The troubles continued when he broke his spine in the Assen round, forcing him to sit out three races.
Aldeguer also recently underwent surgery to remove some of the metalwork implanted in his left leg.
Aldeguer's Standings and the Next Round
Amid the string of injuries, Aldeguer still holds 10th place in the 2026 MotoGP World Championship standings. He must now prioritize recovery following the Mandalika incident.
The condition of his right hand and his progress after surgery will be key factors in determining his readiness for the Australian GP. The rider — who will join the VR46 Ducati team in the future — hopes to return as soon as possible.
