KIP Sekolah and Program Indonesia Pintar
First, a clarification: KIP (Kartu Indonesia Pintar) is the physical marker card, while the aid program is called Program Indonesia Pintar (PIP). PIP is government cash education assistance for SD/MI through SMA/SMK/MA students from disadvantaged families, so they can stay in school.
Annual aid amounts: Rp450,000 for SD/MI, Rp750,000 for SMP/MTs, and Rp1,800,000 for SMA/SMK/MA. Funds are disbursed once a year into a Simpanan Pelajar (SimPel) account in the student's name.
PIP Recipient Requirements
The government sets priority recipient groups for PIP, including KIP holders, students from families holding Kartu Keluarga Sejahtera (KKS) or participating in Program Keluarga Harapan (PKH), and families registered in DTSEN deciles 1-4 (very poor to vulnerable poor).
Other prioritized groups: orphans; students who dropped out and want to return; natural disaster or accident victims; persons with disabilities; students whose parents were laid off or are convicts; and families with three or more children in one household.
How to Register: Through School, Not Self-Registration
Contrary to popular belief, PIP registration is not done independently online but through the school. Parents or students visit the school and state their intent to apply to the homeroom teacher, counseling teacher, or student affairs office. Prepare documents: photocopies of family card, birth certificate, parents' ID, plus KKS or a Surat Keterangan Tidak Mampu (SKTM) if available.
The school then enters the student data into the Dapodik system with PIP-Eligible status and the eligibility reason. Data goes to the Education Office for verification, then to Puslapdik which matches it against DTSEN data. Students who pass are confirmed through a Nomination Decree.
Account Activation Until Disbursement
Nomination Decree recipients must promptly activate a SimPel account at the disbursing bank: BRI for SD/SMP levels and BNI for SMA/SMK. The activation deadline matters — balances left idle too long without transactions can be pulled back to the state treasury. After the account is active and bank-verified, Puslapdik issues the Grant Decree as the basis for disbursing funds to the student's account.
Parents can monitor registration and disbursement status regularly on the official site pip.kemendikdasmen.go.id. If problems arise, such as data not found, coordinate immediately with the school or the local Education Office.
