Coretax Is Now the Only Way to File Your Tax Return
Starting in 2026, tax reporting in Indonesia runs through the Coretax DJP system. This integrated tax information system of the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) replaces the old DJP Online and e-Filing as the main digital tax services platform.
Coretax unifies registration, activation, billing, and filing in one gateway. Since 2024, the national ID number (NIK) automatically functions as the NPWP (Tax Identification Number).
How to Activate a Coretax DJP Account
Before filing a return, taxpayers must activate a Coretax account. Open coretaxdjp.pajak.go.id and choose “Aktivasi Akun Wajib Pajak” (Taxpayer Account Activation), then tick the statement that you are already a registered taxpayer.
Enter the NIK or NPWP along with the email address and mobile number registered in the tax administration. If the data does not match, update it first at a tax office, through Kring Pajak at 1500200, or via live chat on the pajak.go.id website.
Complete identity verification with a selfie as instructed, tick the statement, and save the request. Check the official email from the @pajak.go.id domain for a temporary password, log back in, then change the password and create a passphrase as extra security.
Creating the DJP Authorization Code for Digital Signatures
A tax return cannot be submitted without a digital signature. In Coretax, this role is held by the Kode Otorisasi DJP (KO DJP, DJP Authorization Code) — the official electronic certificate that must be created before reporting.
How to do it: log in to Coretax, open “Portal Saya” (My Portal), choose “Permintaan Kode Otorisasi/Sertifikat Elektronik” (Authorization Code/Electronic Certificate Request), select the “Kode Otorisasi DJP” certificate type, create a passphrase, tick the statement, and save. Make sure the certificate status shows VALID in the profile menu before using it.
Steps to File the Annual Tax Return in Coretax
Once the account is active, filing starts by creating an SPT draft. Choose the “Surat Pemberitahuan (SPT)” menu and click “Buat Konsep SPT” (Create SPT Draft). Select PPh Orang Pribadi (Personal Income Tax), set the period type to “SPT Tahunan” (Annual Return, January–December 2025), and pick “Normal” for a first filing.
Click the pencil icon to start filling in the data. Answers in the main form determine which attachments must be completed, so answer carefully. Click 201cPosting201d so the system fills in part of the data automatically, then review and complete every section.
When complete, click “Bayar dan Lapor” (Pay and Report), choose the digital signature provider, enter the ID and password, then save and confirm the signature. A successfully submitted return moves to the “SPT Dilaporkan” (Reported Returns) menu — download the Bukti Penerimaan Elektronik (BPE, electronic receipt) as valid proof that you filed.
Don't Miss the Filing Deadline
The annual tax return deadline for individuals is March 31 each year (for the 2025 tax year, the deadline was March 31, 2026), while corporate taxpayers have until April 30. Late filing can result in administrative fines.
As of early March 2026, the DJP recorded more than 5.2 million annual returns already submitted — mostly from individual employee taxpayers — with the majority filed through Coretax. If you have not activated an account yet, do it before the deadline.
