Jorge Martin Retakes the MotoGP Championship Lead

Jorge Martín is back at the top of the 2026 MotoGP standings. The Aprilia Racing rider moved to 355 points after finishing third in the Indonesian MotoGP main race at Mandalika on Sunday (11/10/2026).

The points haul returned Martín to the summit, demoting Marc Márquez (Ducati Lenovo) to second on 353 points. A two-point gap sets up a fierce title fight for the rest of the season.

Martín's teammate Marco Bezzecchi sits third on 309 points after winning the Mandalika race.

Martín vs Márquez Duel at Mandalika

Martín's third place came via a hard-fought duel with Márquez. The Spaniard worked his way forward before passing Márquez at Turn 10 to take third.

Márquez, also under pressure from Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM), eventually finished sixth — a result that cost him the championship lead.

"I'm happy with this podium because I got the best result possible. Marco and Raúl were stronger all weekend," Martín said.

Third Consecutive Podium for Martín

Mandalika was Martín's ninth podium of the 2026 season — and his third in a row after matching third-place finishes in Austria and Japan.

That consistency is Aprilia's key asset in the title race. The Italian manufacturer now has two riders — Martín and Bezzecchi — in the top three of the standings.

Aprilia's Mandalika lockout, with four RS-GP26 bikes in the top four, confirms this season's title battle is an Aprilia-versus-Ducati duel.

Title Fight Heats Up

Mandalika was round 17 of the 2026 MotoGP calendar. With just two points separating Martín and Márquez, every remaining round will be decisive.

Bezzecchi, 46 points behind Martín, also stays in title contention thanks to his fifth win of the season at Mandalika.

The remaining rounds will test not only speed but also consistency and nerve. With Aprilia's RS-GP26 proving dominant at Mandalika, Ducati will be under pressure to respond.

The question now: can Martín hold the lead, or will Márquez strike back at the next round?
