Cheapest Automatic Scooters: Starting at Rp18 Million

Automatic scooters remain the kings of Indonesian roads. Data from the Indonesian Motorcycle Industry Association (AISI) shows domestic motorcycle sales in 2025 reached 6,412,769 units, with the scooter segment controlling 91.7% of them. No wonder the 2026 scooter lineup keeps growing, from budget-friendly to premium models.

In the most affordable class, the Yamaha Mio M3 and Gear 125 with 125 cc Blue Core engines are priced at Rp18.3–19.8 million OTR Jakarta. Their eternal rival, the Honda BeAT, sells for Rp18.9–20.4 million depending on trim (CBS, Deluxe, up to Deluxe Smart Key) with claimed fuel consumption of 60.6–62 km/liter. The Honda Genio, sharing the BeAT's 110 cc engine, sits slightly above at Rp20–21 million.

Mid Class: Vario, Scoopy, and Fazzio

One step up, the Honda Scoopy — popular among young riders — is priced at Rp22.8–24 million. The Yamaha Fazzio Hybrid with its 125 cc Blue Core Hybrid engine targets a similar segment at Rp21.9–24.4 million with 51–53 km/liter fuel economy.

The Honda Vario 125, one of the best-selling scooters, sells for around Rp24 million OTR Jakarta at 50.2 km/liter. Meanwhile the Yamaha FreeGo 125, offering a large 25-liter underseat storage, starts at Rp22.865 million.

Premium 150–160 cc Scooters: NMAX, Aerox, Vario 160

In the maxi-scooter segment, the Honda Vario 160 (156.9 cc PGM-FI engine) is priced at Rp28.5–31.4 million. The sporty Yamaha Aerox 155 Standard sells for Rp29.38 million, while its newest generation, the Aerox Alpha Standard, is priced at Rp30.7 million.

The Yamaha NMAX remains the premium scooter benchmark: Standard trim at Rp32.175 million, S Version at Rp33.175 million, and Connected/ABS at Rp36.3 million. The model now features YECVT transmission with Y-Shift and selectable riding modes.

Tips for Choosing the Right Scooter

Before buying, define your needs. For short daily commutes, the 110–125 cc class is more than enough and the most fuel-efficient. For long trips or larger riders, 150–160 cc scooters offer more comfort and power.
