Why Choose BI-FAST
BI-FAST is Bank Indonesia's interbank transfer service that runs real-time, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week — including holidays. Its two main advantages: cheap and practical.
On cost, BI-FAST caps fees at Rp2,500 per transaction, far below regular real-time online transfers at around Rp6,500. On features, BI-FAST offers proxy addresses: just enter the recipient's registered phone number or email, with no need to memorize account numbers.
Transfer Steps via Mobile Banking
Open your mobile banking app and sign in as usual, then go to the Transfer menu. Choose the BI-FAST option (called BI-FAST Transfer or Instant Transfer in some apps), then pick the destination bank and enter the recipient's account number — or phone number/email when using a proxy address.
Enter the transfer amount (max Rp250 million per transaction), check the confirmation screen showing the account holder's name — this prevents wrong transfers — then finish with your PIN or biometric authentication. Funds reach the destination account within seconds, any time of day.
Activating a Proxy Address
So others can transfer to you using just your phone number, register a proxy address first: go to Settings in your mobile banking app, choose BI-FAST Settings > Add Proxy Address, pick a phone number or email, link it to your chosen account, then confirm with your PIN.
This is a big help for MSMEs and online sellers — just share a phone number and buyers can transfer without typing a long account number. One phone number or email can only link to one account at a time.
BI-FAST vs Regular Online Transfer
The most noticeable difference is cost: Rp2,500 versus Rp6,500. On limits, BI-FAST reaches Rp250 million per transaction, while regular online transfers follow each bank's own policy.
One note: not every bank offers BI-FAST on every channel (some don't support it via ATM yet), so make sure both sending and receiving banks are on the BI-FAST network and your app is up to date. If the BI-FAST option doesn't appear, update the app or contact your bank.
