ITB Ultra Marathon Runner Dody Pasha Passes Away in Cianjur

ITB mining student Dody Muhammad Pasha died during the 2026 ITB Ultra Marathon relay 16 after collapsing near Rawabango Terminal, Cianjur, on Saturday.

Collapses in Cianjur

Participation in the 2026 ITB Ultra Marathon long-distance running event ended in tragedy. Dody Muhammad Pasha, a student at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB - Institut Teknologi Bandung), passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2026. Dody took part in the race as a participant in the relay 16 category.

Dody reportedly collapsed near Rawabango Terminal, Cianjur, West Java. He was evacuated to a regional hospital before eventually being pronounced dead. His body was then kept at Sayang Regional General Hospital (RSUD Sayang - Rumah Sakit Umum Daerah Sayang) in Cianjur.

Mining Engineering Student Class of 2023

Dody was an undergraduate student in Mining Engineering at the Faculty of Mining and Petroleum Engineering (FTTM - Fakultas Teknik Pertambangan dan Perminyakan) ITB, class of 2023. The mourning news was shared by FTTM ITB through its official social media account. 'The entire academic community of the Faculty of Mining and Petroleum Engineering, Bandung Institute of Technology, extends its deepest condolences on the passing of Dody Muhammad Pasha,' stated FTTM ITB.

The 2026 ITB Ultra Marathon organizing committee also conveyed their condolences. 'The entire committee and big family of the 2026 ITB Ultra Marathon convey our deepest condolences on the demise of Dody Muhammad Pasha, relay 16 participant of the 2026 ITB Ultra Marathon,' wrote the committee.

Cause Remains Unknown

To date, the cause of Dody's death remains unknown. Officers at Sayang Regional General Hospital stated that they did not know the exact cause because medical records remained at the hospital that referred the victim. At the family's request, the body was embalmed with formalin as a travel requirement for repatriation to Jambi.

The 2026 ITB Ultra Marathon took place from October 16 to 18, 2026, covering a 180-kilometer Jakarta-Bandung route passing through the Puncak and Cianjur areas. In the relay 16 category, each team member covers a distance of approximately 11.25 kilometers. The victim's family was reportedly traveling from Jakarta to Cianjur to assist with the repatriation of the body.
