Twice Pegged Back, PSG Still Win 4-2

Paris Saint-Germain defeated Barcelona 4-2 in UEFA Champions League 2026/2027 league phase matchday 3 at the Parc des Princes, Paris, early Wednesday (21/10/2026) WIB. Six goals were scored in a dramatic encounter that twice saw Barcelona fight back to level before finally succumbing late on.

The hosts took the lead in the 38th minute through Désiré Doué. The young Frenchman's strike put PSG 1-0 up, a lead they held until half-time. Barcelona, despite enjoying more possession, struggled to break down the hosts' compact defence in the first half.

Barcelona finally levelled ten minutes after the restart. Xavi Espart scored in the 55th minute to make it 1-1 and revive the visitors' hopes. But PSG retook the lead through Lucas Hernández's header in the 72nd minute, sending the Parc des Princes crowd into raptures.

The drama was not over. Lamine Yamal levelled again at 2-2 in the 79th minute, and the match looked destined for a draw. Yet PSG showed championship mentality in the final five minutes: Vitinha scored in the 81st minute to make it 3-2, before Fabián Ruiz sealed the 4-2 win in the 86th minute from Achraf Hakimi's assist.

Dembélé Injured, Two More Stars Withdrawn

PSG's convincing win came at a heavy price. Ousmane Dembélé, the Ballon d'Or winner, was forced off in the 20th minute with a hamstring injury and replaced by Ferran Torres. The injury is bad news for PSG, who rely heavily on the winger's pace in attack.

PSG's problems did not stop there. Two more stars, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Marquinhos, were also withdrawn in the second half. Losing three key players in one match made the 4-2 victory over Barcelona feel bittersweet for the hosts, with a congested schedule still ahead domestically and in Europe.

Dembélé's condition is now the main concern. The forward is expected to undergo further examination to determine the severity of the hamstring injury and how long he will be sidelined.

PSG More Clinical Despite Less Possession

The match statistics reflected the hosts' aggression. PSG fired 22 shots with 15 on target, compared to 18 shots with only five on target for Barcelona. Clinical finishing proved the decisive difference between the two sides.

Interestingly, Barcelona dominated possession with 53 percent. But the Blaugrana's dominance produced few dangerous chances, while every PSG attack looked threatening.

Two goals in the final five minutes underlined the sharpness of PSG's attack. Despite losing Dembélé as early as the 20th minute, Les Parisiens still scored four goals against one of Europe's strongest teams — a firm statement of their Champions League ambitions this season.
