Fire Started Thursday Night
A massive fire broke out at a used tire processing facility owned by CV Laju Jaya Energi in Desa Domas, Kecamatan Trowulan, Kabupaten Mojokerto, Jawa Timur, since Thursday night (22/10/2026). The fire was first spotted by the facility's security personnel.
The initially small fire quickly spread to the pile of used tires, growing larger and becoming difficult to control. Observations at the scene showed large flames accompanied by thick black smoke billowing high into the air, with heat felt within a radius of about 50 meters.
A number of workers were in the warehouse area when the fire first broke out. They immediately fled outside the warehouse and away from the fire scene, so there were no casualties in this incident.

10 Thousand Tons of Tires Burned, Losses Reach Rp2.5 Billion
According to the company's administration department's statement to police, the number of tires burned approached 10,000 tons, with the affected area spanning approximately 1.2 hectares. Preliminary losses are estimated at Rp2.5 billion.
To tackle the fire, a total of 20 fire trucks were deployed to the location. Personnel also used excavators to create a 10-15 meter wide barrier between the burning area and the piles of tires that had not yet caught fire to prevent the flames from spreading.
Trowulan Police Chief Kompol Gusti Ngurah Ketut estimated that the extinguishing process would take one to two days due to the large piles of burning and melting tires. "At least (the extinguishing will take) one or two days, at the earliest tomorrow or the day after. Because the tires are melting, and then the burned area is 1.2 hectares," said Gusti Ngurah Ketut.
Fire Previously Threatened Nearby Gas Stations
The main focus of the authorities is to prevent the fire from spreading to a gas station near the location. A pile of tires near the gas station was immediately moved and the area cleared as a buffer, according to the Trowulan Police Chief.
TNI personnel from the Territorial Development Infantry Battalion (Yonif TP) 542/Arya Tadah were also deployed to assist in the firefighting process alongside Indonesian National Police (Polri), firefighters, volunteers, and the community.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated by police and has not yet been confirmed. "Whether it was from a cigarette butt or burning trash, we also don't know yet. We are still investigating the cause," said Gusti Ngurah Ketut.
