First Half: Ramos Penalty and Rabiot Strike

AC Milan defeated Atalanta 3-2 in a Serie A matchday 7 clash at San Siro in the early hours of Monday (19/10/2026) WIB. Goals from Goncalo Ramos, Adrien Rabiot, and Mario Gila put the Rossoneri three goals ahead before Atalanta's second-half fightback turned the game into a tense finish.

Milan thought they had broken the deadlock in the 13th minute through Christian Pulisic, but the goal was ruled out for offside after a VAR review. The hosts' lead finally came in the 25th minute: the referee awarded a penalty after VAR confirmed substitute Relja Obric's handball blocking Yunus Musah's shot. Ramos stepped up as the taker and made no mistake — 1-0 to Milan.

Two minutes before the break, the hosts doubled their advantage. Diego Moreira sent a low pass into the penalty area, and Adrien Rabiot met it with a low strike into the bottom corner in the 43rd minute. It was Rabiot's fourth Serie A goal of the season. The 2-0 lead held until half-time.

Ramos Misses Second Penalty, Gila Scores First

Milan were awarded a second penalty in the second half after Thomas Kristensen was judged to have handled Rabiot's shot. However, Ramos' 56th-minute effort was saved by Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi — a miss that nearly came back to haunt them.

A minute later, Milan still managed to extend their lead from a corner. Rabiot flicked the ball on at the near post, and Mario Gila headed home from close range at the far post in the 57th minute. The Spanish defender's first Serie A goal since 2024 put Milan 3-0 up.

Atalanta Fight Back, Maignan to the Rescue

Atalanta had already threatened before Milan's third goal: Nikola Krstovic hit the post in the 63rd minute. Three minutes later, Gianluca Gaetano pulled one back with a tight-angle finish from Krstovic's assist — 3-1 in the 66th minute.

The visitors' pressure produced a second goal in the 81st minute. Raoul Bellanova delivered a low cross from the right, and Krstovic swept it in with an accurate finish to make it 3-2. In the remaining time, Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan proved the hero with a one-on-one save from Davide Zappacosta, ensuring the three points stayed with the hosts.

Best Start Since the Title-Winning Season

The victory extended Milan's unbeaten run to seven matches — the Rossoneri's best start to a season since the 2021-2022 title-winning campaign. It was also Milan's first win over Atalanta since 2023.

For Milan coach Ruben Amorim, the result keeps his squad's positive momentum going. Mario Gila's first Serie A goal since 2024 and Adrien Rabiot's consistency — now with four goals this season — are valuable assets for Milan in this season's title race.
