Suárez Puts Sporting Ahead
Sporting CP suffered a shock home defeat. At the José Alvalade in Lisbon, early Thursday (22/10/2026) WIB, the Portuguese giants lost 2-3 to LASK Linz on Champions League league-phase matchday 3.
The hosts started perfectly. In the 5th minute, Colombian striker Luis Suárez opened the scoring from the penalty spot. But the lead lasted only ten minutes — Christoph Lang equalised in the 15th minute, and the 1-1 scoreline held until half-time.

LASK's Deadly Five Minutes
The second half was a nightmare for Sporting. In the 63rd minute, Saša Kalajdžić put LASK ahead from Robert Ljubičić's assist. Five minutes later, Kryštof Daněk extended the visitors' lead to 3-1 via Samuel Adeniran's pass.
Painfully for coach Rui Borges: LASK turned 1-1 into 3-1 before Sporting made their first substitution. Suárez pulled one back with his second goal in the 89th minute, but there was not enough time for the hosts to find an equaliser.
Historic Three Points for LASK
The victory was LASK's first three points in the league phase after back-to-back defeats — a historic haul for the Austrian club that qualified dramatically via the playoff against Celtic. Sporting are stuck on six points and must bounce back quickly.
For D. Kühbauer's LASK, an away win over a club of Sporting's stature is a statement. They proved that even small teams can win on Europe's biggest stage with disciplined organisation and clinical finishing.
