63 Thousand Spectators Brave the Rain

KUALA LUMPUR — Approximately 63,000 spectators packed the Bukit Jalil National Stadium on Saturday evening (17/10/2026) to watch Malaysian diva Siti Nurhaliza’s Gema Bumantara Traditional Concert. Rain that began falling when the concert started at 20:30 did not deter the audience, who stayed until the end of the three-hour performance.

Among the guest stars that evening, two names from Indonesia stole the spotlight: dangdut singer Lesti Kejora and King Nassar, who performed alongside Noraniza Idris and Haziq Rosebi. Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim was also in attendance, watching the concert while wearing a raincoat.

30 Songs, Zapin, and a Duet After 26 Years

For roughly three hours, Siti performed more than 30 classic and traditional Malay songs, accompanied by zapin dance, a wayang kulit (shadow puppet) performance, and a showcase of Nusantara heritage fashion. The most emotional moment came when she duetted with Noraniza Idris on 'Hati Kama' — the first time the popular duet had been performed together in front of an audience in 26 years.

Siti admitted she was moved by the audience's devotion. "Kita merancang segala-galanya, tetapi Tuhan menentukan," she said on stage. She described the concert as a dream finally realized at Malaysia's largest stadium, adding that she did not know when such an opportunity would come again.

Anwar Ibrahim: Bravo Siti, Bravo to the Audience

Anwar Ibrahim, who was seated beside Siti's husband, Khalid Mohamad Jiwa, praised the concert through his Facebook account. "Hebat Datuk Seri Siti, hebat juga semangat peminatnya," he wrote, describing the performance as beautiful in celebrating the richness of the Nusantara artistic heritage. Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil, who attended with his wife, also called the concert captivating and rich with the beauty of cultural heritage.

Siti expressed her gratitude to Anwar and the cabinet ministers for attending amid their busy work schedules, calling it a great honor for her largest traditional music concert.

Lesti and King Nassar to Represent Indonesia

The presence of Lesti Kejora and King Nassar was a source of pride for Indonesian viewers. Siti chose the two not without reason — although they are known through dangdut, both are considered to have strong roots in traditional music, including the training they received from the late composer Pak Ngah Suhaimi.

The concert is being billed as the largest traditional concert ever staged in Malaysia. Organized by SN Legacy, Gema Bumantara marks Siti's first solo concert at Bukit Jalil to fully embrace a traditional music and Nusantara heritage concept, coming nine months after the Konsert Legacy 30, which drew 65,000 spectators at the same venue on January 10, 2026.
