Morgan Gamble Killed in Atlanta Crash
Morgan Gamble, a 21-year-old Clark Atlanta University (CAU) student who appeared in Netflix's reboot of A Different World, was killed in a traffic crash in Atlanta, Georgia, on Tuesday (Oct. 13) night local time. The crash happened at around 11:15 p.m. at the intersection of Hank Aaron Drive and Glenn Street, just south of downtown Atlanta.
Atlanta police say Gamble's 2016 Mazda CX-5 was heading west when a Lexus coming from the north struck it. Event data recorder data from the offending vehicle showed it was traveling at 94.44 miles per hour in a 35 mph zone. Gamble was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in critical condition but did not survive. A witness told police the driver's car was moving at extreme speed just before impact.

Remembering Morgan Gamble
On campus, Gamble was a shining senior in mass media studies who had been named Miss Omega Psi Phi. She was active in the student group 4-Reel Productions and founded her own company, Rooted n Reelness. She had worked as a background performer and student production assistant on Netflix's A Different World, appearing on screen. Fair Play Films producer Jill Bennett remembered her as an exemplary student coordinator whose script input was invaluable to the independent film The Transfer.
Driver Charged With First-Degree Vehicular Homicide
The Lexus driver, Nikolai Dunford, 36, was arrested that night and charged with speeding, reckless driving, and first-degree vehicular homicide. As of Oct. 15, he remained in Fulton County Jail. Her father, George Gamble, said: "I just don't understand how a car could go nearly 95 miles per hour in a 35-mile-per-hour zone." Her mother, Brandi Gamble, questioned the driver's decision to drive that fast in a residential and commercial area. The police investigation is ongoing.
