Jakarta Police Prepare Questioning in Ruben Onsu Video Call Case
The alleged defamation case involving Ruben Onsu and Sarwendah has entered a new chapter. The Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polda Metro Jaya) confirmed they will soon summon witnesses and analyse evidence related to the reports filed by Ruben Onsu.
Metro Jaya Police public relations chief, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, said the force had received two reports from Ruben Onsu — on 11 October 2026 under police report number LP/7634 and on 13 October 2026 — concerning alleged crimes committed through electronic media.
Evidence submitted by the complainant includes a flash disk and screenshots of Instagram uploads. The reports have now been recommended for handling by the Metro Jaya Police Cybercrime Directorate and remain under further examination.
Three Police Reports from Ruben Onsu Over the Viral Video Call
In total, Ruben's camp has filed three reports with the Metro Jaya Police. The first was made in the early hours of Sunday (11/10/2026) over alleged illegal access to the email address of his son, Betrand Peto, with Betrand personally accompanying the filing.
The second, filed the same day at 3:00 PM local time, concerns alleged defamation over a viral video call recording of Ruben with another man that Sarwendah had uploaded. Ruben's camp suspects the recording had been edited before being circulated.
The third report was filed in the early hours of Tuesday (13/10/2026) against Artos and F alias Y — Ruben's interlocutors in the video call — who allegedly spread the recording on social media without permission. The report cites layered articles of Indonesia's Electronic Information and Transactions Law (UU ITE), with prison sentences for the reported parties of up to ten years.
Sarwendah Admits Parts of the Video Were Edited
Amid the ongoing legal process, Sarwendah issued a clarification via her Instagram account regarding the viral video of Ruben Onsu. She admitted that parts of the recording had gone through an editing process.
Sarwendah also challenged those doubting the video's authenticity to report to the police so its authenticity could be examined through digital forensics. Her lawyer, meanwhile, said Sarwendah's social media account had been banned for one year as a result of uploading the video, and suspected that certain parties had deliberately reported the account.
Artos Launches Rp50 Million Challenge; Denny Sumargo Furious at Being Dragged In
Another development comes from Artos, the man said to have given the video call recording to Sarwendah. He has suddenly launched a bounty challenge offering Rp50 million to anyone who can prove the Ruben Onsu video call recording is not the product of artificial intelligence (AI) editing.
Denny Sumargo's name has also been dragged in after an old video of his was re-uploaded and linked to the feud. Through the comments section of his own Threads account, the former basketball player — fondly known as Densu — voiced his objection and issued a stern warning: "Don't use my videos to build narratives and steer public opinion," he wrote, as quoted on Tuesday (13/10/2026).
All reports remain under investigation. Police stressed that the existing reports cannot be interpreted as proof that any party has been found guilty — any determination of legal violations must go through the proper case-handling process by the authorities.
