Who Is Tandyo Budi Revita, the New KSAD
General Tandyo Budi Revita is now the number one man in the Indonesian Army. He was sworn in by President Prabowo Subianto as the Indonesian Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) on Thursday (15/10/2026) at the State Palace in Jakarta, succeeding General Maruli Simanjuntak, who was reassigned as Deputy Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI).
Tandyo is a Solo native, born in Central Java on 21 February 1969. A 1991 graduate of the Indonesian Military Academy in the Infantry branch (Kostrad), he is known as an officer who climbed from combat units to be trusted with leading the Army's ground forces.

Career Track Record: From Special Teams to the Defense Ministry
Tandyo Budi Revita's military career began in elite units. In 1995 he led the Combat Intelligence Special Team of the Airborne Infantry Battalion 330/Tri Dharma. He rose steadily through the ranks until he was entrusted with command of the 17th Airborne Infantry Brigade/Kujang I in 2011-2012.
Beyond combat units, Tandyo also held various command and staff assignments, including at the II/Sriwijaya Regional Military Training Command, the 142/Tarogau Military Resort Command, and Army headquarters operations. He was later posted to the Ministry of Defense, serving as head of the ministry's training and education division in 2021-2023 - a period when Prabowo Subianto was defense minister. The experience brought him directly into the dynamics of national defense policy.
Trusted by Prabowo: Diponegoro Commander to Deputy TNI Commander
Tandyo's name became widely known when he was appointed commander of the IV/Diponegoro Military Region in December 2023, serving until February 2024. He was then promoted to Deputy Chief of Staff of the Army in February 2024, a post he held until August 2025.
On 10 August 2025, President Prabowo named him Deputy Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) - a post revived after standing vacant for a quarter of a century. Now, after more than a year in that role, he has been entrusted to lead the Indonesian Army as its new Chief of Staff.
The New Army Chief's Commitment: KDKMP, People's Schools, Food Security
After his inauguration, Tandyo affirmed his commitment to accelerating the government's strategic programs involving the Indonesian Army. "This will certainly become homework for the Army to accelerate, in particular the operationalization of the KDKMP, the people's schools, and food security, which are tasks from the President that we will complete soon," Tandyo said.
With a long track record in combat units, the Ministry of Defense, and the Deputy TNI Commander post, Tandyo's leadership of the Indonesian Army now enters a new chapter under President Prabowo's administration.
