Mahanni baru dilantik sebagai Wakil Bupati Klaten oleh Ahmad Luthfi pada Senin (12/10/2026) — tiga hari sebelum OTT; menggantikan suaminya, Benny Indra Ardhianto, yang meninggal dunia pada 7 Februari 2026.

Decree Handed Over Last Friday

Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi appointed Klaten Deputy Regent Mahanni Yulindha Pratiwi as Acting (Plt - Pelaksana Tugas) Regent of Klaten. The appointment follows the naming of Klaten Regent Hamenang Wajar Ismoyo as a suspect by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK - Komisi Pemberantasan Korupsi).

Regional Secretary (Sekda - Sekretaris Daerah) of Central Java Province Sumarno stated that the decree (SK - Surat Keputusan) appointing the Acting Regent of Klaten was finalized and handed over to Mahanni on Friday (10/16/2026). Sumarno conveyed this in Semarang on Saturday (10/17/2026). "In accordance with the law, if a regional head is unavailable, naturally the deputy carries out the duties. The decree is ready and was handed over to the Deputy Regent yesterday," Sumarno said.

Sumarno emphasized that the Central Java Provincial Government (Pemprov Jateng - Pemerintah Provinsi Jawa Tengah) continues to monitor governance in Klaten Regency. "Naturally, we want public services to continue running smoothly," he said.

Background: KPK Sting Operation and Hamenang Named Suspect

The KPK conducted a sting operation (OTT - Operasi Tangkap Tangan) against Klaten Regent Hamenang Wajar Ismoyo on Thursday (10/15/2026). The anti-graft agency subsequently named Hamenang a suspect and detained him in Jakarta.

The alleged corruption case relates to the procurement of goods and services as well as alleged bribes given to the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK - Badan Pemeriksa Keuangan) regarding a financial audit. Following his naming as a suspect, Hamenang was also expelled from membership in the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP - Partai Demokrasi Indonesia Perjuangan).

Three Days as Deputy Regent, Now Leading Klaten

Mahanni's appointment as acting regent is considered dramatic. She had just been inaugurated as Deputy Regent (Wabup - Wakil Bupati) of Klaten by Governor Ahmad Luthfi on Monday (10/12/2026) at the Gradhika Bhakti Praja Building, Semarang City—only three days before the KPK sting targeted Hamenang.

Mahanni was sworn in as Deputy Regent of Klaten to replace her husband, Benny Indra Ardhianto, who passed away on February 7, 2026. Born in Boyolali on July 27, 1992, she is a Gerindra Party (Partai Gerakan Indonesia Raya) politician and a graduate of the Diploma III Applied Communication program at Sebelas Maret University (UNS - Universitas Sebelas Maret) holding an Associate Expert (A.Md. - Ahli Madya) degree.

Mahanni's appointment as acting regent is expected to ensure that the wheels of government in Klaten Regency continue to run while legal proceedings take place, with the Central Java Provincial Government continuing oversight so public services remain uninterrupted.

Mahanni was elected as Deputy Regent of Klaten through a vote in the Regional House of Representatives (DPRD - Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat Daerah), sweeping all 49 council members' votes. The 34-year-old woman is now carrying out the duties of regional head until further decisions are made.
