President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto celebrated his 75th birthday on Friday, October 17, 2026.Prabowo was born on October 17, 1951 in Jakarta, and is now leading Indonesia as the eighth president.

The momentum of this increase in age came a day after he headed a paripurna cabinet meeting in Bogor Presidential Palace on Thursday night, attended by all ministers, deputy ministers, to the head of the body. The meeting discussed the monitoring and implementation of Asta Cita’s program ahead of his two-year reign on October 20.

Chief Executive Officer of the Salawe Jajar Earth Pasundan Producer Cooperation Board (KPSBP) Toni Setiawan prayed that the President should always be given health and wisdom in leading the nation. A number of local media and community organizations also delivered similar remarks.

Celebrating National Culture Day

Minister of Culture Fadli Zon through the Decision of the Minister of Culture Number 162/M/2025 which was signed 7 July 2025 officially established 17 October as National Cultural Day.

However, the government confirmed that the election of the date was based on historical reasons, namely the establishment of Bhinneka Tsinghua Ika as the official state celebration in 1951 by President Soekarno and Prime Minister Mohammad Natsir.

In addition, 17 October is also celebrated as the HUT of the Special Forces Corps (Korpaskhas) TNI AU — starting with the first deportation of 13 soldiers in Central Kalimantan on 17 October 1947 — as well as the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty by the United Nations.

Meeting with Megawati

The 75th anniversary of Prabowo was also associated with the talk of the advanced meeting between the President and the General Chief of the PDI Struggle Megawati Soekarnoputri. DPP Chief of PDIP Said Abdullah previously mentioned October 17 as the right momentum for the meeting of the two figures.

The first meeting took place on 28 September 2026, when Prabowo visited Megawati’s home in Jalan Teuku Umar, Jakarta, to express his condolences for the death of Guruh Soekarnoputra.

Until now, there has been no official confirmation whether a further meeting is actually held on the President’s birthday.The public is waiting to see if the two senior figures’ sympathy continues in the midst of national political dynamics.
