PDIP Takes a Firm Stance
The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) has confirmed it will dishonorably discharge Klaten Regent Hamenang Wajar Ismoyo from party membership. The decision was taken after the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) named Hamenang a suspect in an alleged corruption case.
Head of the PDIP Central Leadership Board (DPP) for Party Honor, Komarudin Watubun, stated that the recommendation letter for dismissal will be issued on Monday, October 19, 2026. 'We are currently processing the dismissal. This coming Monday, we will issue a recommendation letter for a dishonorable discharge for the person concerned,' Komarudin said in an official statement on Saturday (10/17/2026).
Repeatedly Warned
Komarudin lamented the alleged acts of corruption ensnaring Hamenang. He stressed that the party had repeatedly warned cadres in both executive and legislative roles to stay away from corrupt practices, including by summoning several regional heads to the DPP office on September 14, 2026.
'The general chairwoman has also continually reminded cadres, in both executive and legislative branches, to distance themselves from corruption. Yet actions detrimental to the people are still being committed,' said Komarudin. He added that regional heads ought to dedicate themselves to serving the people, not amassing wealth through illegitimate means.
Three Suspects, Central Java DPD Recommends Sanctions
In this case, the KPK named three suspects: Hamenang, Head of the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK) Central Java Provincial Office Ahmad Luthfi H. Rahmatullah, and an individual from the private sector. The alleged offenses involve bribes, tax/levy collection incentives, category C mineral mining, and unlawful gratifications.
Separately, Chairman of the Central Java PDIP Regional Leadership Council (DPD) Dolfie Othniel Frederic Palit stated that his office recommended firm organizational sanctions to the DPP on Friday (10/16/2026). 'Central Java PDI Perjuangan DPD recommended that the PDI Perjuangan DPP take decisive measures to uphold party integrity,' Dolfie said. Komarudin also warned other regional head cadres: if proven corrupt, dismissals will be carried out without a lengthy process.
