Pobega Stuns Inter Early
Inter Milan had to work hard before beating Bologna 3-1 away on Serie A matchday seven at the Stadio Renato Dall'Ara on Saturday (17/10/2026). Falling behind early, the Nerazzurri turned the game around with two second-half goals.
Bologna took the lead in the 10th minute when Tommaso Pobega finished with his left foot from Juan Miranda's pass, beating the Inter goalkeeper at the near post. The hosts even came close to doubling the lead when Pobega struck the crossbar. But Inter levelled just before the break: Marcus Thuram rose to head home Nicolò Barella's cross in the 44th minute to make it 1-1.

Two Second-Half Goals Seal the Comeback
Inter were far more dominant after the interval. The second goal finally arrived in the 69th minute: after Andy Diouf's introduction changed the rhythm of the game, Piotr Zieliński sent in a low ball that Carlos Augusto converted from close range.
Ange-Yoan Bonny sealed the victory in the 83rd minute with a first-time finish from Carlos Augusto's squared ball. It felt like redemption for Bonny, who moments earlier had a near-post strike chalked off for offside. The 1-3 scoreline stood until the final whistle.
Bouncing Back from Champions League Pain
The victory was the perfect response to Inter's shock 4-3 home Champions League defeat to Club Brugge on Tuesday. The Nerazzurri now have zero points from two UCL games after also losing 2-1 at Real Madrid.
The result in Bologna came despite a depleted Inter: Lautaro Martínez is out for a month with a thigh injury, while Pavard, Curtis Jones, and John Stones were also sidelined. Assistant coach Aleksandar Kolarov — standing in for Cristian Chivu, who lost his voice — praised his team: "we dominated after the break". The stats back him up: Inter held 65% possession with 17 shots (8 on target), compared to Bologna's 11 shots (4 on target).
Top of the Table, Shakhtar Next
With this win, Inter stay top of the Serie A table with 19 points from seven matches, while Bologna remain 14th on five points. Carlos Augusto — scorer of the second goal and provider of the third — was named Serie A Man of the Match.
Kolarov also praised the hero: "Carlos Augusto has never got a training session wrong". Next up, Inter host Shakhtar Donetsk at San Siro on Wednesday in a Champions League tie they simply must win to keep their qualification hopes alive.
