A Historic Night at the Benito Stirpe

FROSINONE — Antonio Raimondo wrote his name into the Frosinone history books. The 22-year-old striker scored a hat-trick to fire Frosinone to a 4-2 win over Sassuolo at the Stadio Benito Stirpe on Friday (10/16/2026) in the seventh round of Serie A — the first hat-trick ever scored by a Frosinone player in Italy's top flight.

Frosinone took the lead through Giacomo Calo in the ninth minute, although Domenico Berardi equalized for the visitors. Raimondo then took center stage with two goals in the space of four minutes, in the 26th and 30th. Kristian Thorstvedt pulled one back for Sassuolo to make it 3-2 in the 37th minute.

Raimondo's third came in the 57th minute from a corner situation, sealing the 4-2 victory for the hosts and completing his historic night.

Seven Goals in Seven Games, Top of the Charts

The dazzling display continued Raimondo's extraordinary start to the season. The striker, on loan from Bologna, now has seven goals in just seven Serie A appearances — scored in 577 minutes of play — and sits atop the league's scoring charts. He had previously netted braces against Fiorentina and Venezia.

What made the night even more special was its timing. Before kick-off, Raimondo received the Serie A Rising Star award for August-September. He celebrated the honor with the most prolific individual top-flight performance in Frosinone's history.

Frosinone Climb Into the Upper Table

The win over Sassuolo was Frosinone's fourth of the season and lifted their tally to 13 points from seven matches. Massimiliano Alvini's newly promoted side now sits in the upper reaches of the Serie A standings, far exceeding most pre-season expectations.

The result also restored Frosinone's confidence after last week's 3-0 defeat to Napoli. Sassuolo, meanwhile, slipped further into mid-table and have yet to keep a single clean sheet in seven matches this season.

With Raimondo in red-hot form, Frosinone have become one of the most exciting surprise stories of the 2026/2027 Serie A season. The question now: how long can the yellow-and-blues keep this sensational run going?
