Prabowo Swears In Seven Officials at State Palace

President Prabowo Subianto swore in seven new officials in a reshuffle of the Red-and-White Cabinet at the State Palace in Jakarta on Thursday afternoon (10/15/2026). The appointments cover four deputy ministers, the head of the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB), and the head and deputy head of the National Peatland and Mangrove Management Agency (BPGMN).

Prabowo led the oath-taking, which was followed by the officials. Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka and senior state officials attended the ceremony. After the oath, the officials signed the inauguration minutes before the President.

The appointments were formalized through Presidential Decrees No. 42/M/2026, No. 113/P/2026, and No. 43/M/2026. It is the eighth reshuffle since Prabowo took office as president in October 2024, coming two weeks after a major shake-up of coordinating minister posts on October 1.

Kristomei Sianturi Takes Helm of BNPB

Lt. Gen. Kristomei Sianturi was officially sworn in as head of the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB). His appointment, replacing Lt. Gen. Suharyanto, was formalized in Presidential Decree No. 113/P/2026 on the dismissal and appointment of the BNPB chief, signed on Wednesday, October 14, 2026.

Before being entrusted with leading the BNPB, the Indonesian Army general served as commander of Military Regional Command (Pangdam) XXI/Radin Inten covering Lampung and Bengkulu since August 10, 2025. Kristomei is known for his tenure as head of the TNI Information Center (Kapuspen TNI) since March 2025 and as deputy governor of the Military Academy. The Batak-born officer, born in Kotabumi, North Lampung, on May 6, 1976, also served in infantry units, the Army Strategic Reserve Command (Kostrad), territorial commands, and military education institutions.

Before the ceremony, Kristomei was peppered with questions from journalists about reports of his appointment as the new BNPB chief. Without confirming it outright, he stressed his readiness to carry out the mandate wherever assigned. "I don't know yet what my assignment is," Kristomei said briefly.

Two Deputy Defense Ministers With Different Portfolios

The Defense Ministry gained two deputy ministers with different portfolios. Air Marshal Yusuf Jauhari was sworn in as Deputy Defense Minister for Logistics, Defense Industry, and Technology. Meanwhile, Gen. Richard Taruli Horja Tampubolon — previously rumored to have been summoned to the State Palace — was officially appointed Deputy Defense Minister for Strategy, Doctrine, and Force Development.

Also sworn in were Dr. Alim Setiawan Slamet as Deputy Agriculture Minister and M. Maulana Bungaran as Deputy Minister of Immigration and Corrections. Prof. Dr. Satyawan Pudyatmoko was entrusted with leading the National Peatland and Mangrove Management Agency (BPGMN), assisted by Maj. Gen. Sri Yanto as his deputy. All sworn-in officials are now active and will serve out the remainder of the 2024–2029 term.

Military Leadership Rotation: Maruli Simanjuntak and Tandyo Budi

Beyond the cabinet, Prabowo also rotated the TNI's top command under Presidential Decrees No. 105 and 106/TNI/2026. Gen. Maruli Simanjuntak was appointed Deputy Commander of the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI), concurrently heading the National Agency for Border and Remote Area Management.

Gen. Tandyo Budi Revita was appointed Army Chief of Staff (KSAD). The changes span matters close to people's daily lives, from disaster response and food availability to immigration services and ecosystem management.
