Sudden Summons to Bogor Palace

JAKARTA — President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to gather ministers, deputy ministers, and agency heads of the Red and White Cabinet at the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java, on Friday evening (10/16/2026). The meeting is planned for 7:00 p.m. local time, but the agenda remains unclear.

The invitation received by officials lists the agenda as a "Meeting with the President of the Republic of Indonesia." According to information gathered by CNBC Indonesia, officials were asked to wear long-sleeved batik shirts, while Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) and Police personnel are to wear Ceremonial Service Uniform (PDU)-4 — a detail signaling a formal, high-level meeting.

The planned meeting is drawing attention because the invitations were sent out suddenly on Friday morning, one day after the President inaugurated several new officials at the State Palace.

Confirmed by Several Officials

Head of the Government Communication Agency (Bakom) Syahganda Nainggolan confirmed the planned summons. "Benar (Acara), jam 19 di istana Bogor" ("The event is confirmed, 7 p.m. at the Bogor Palace"), he said when asked on Friday. Despite confirming, he did not elaborate on the meeting's purpose or agenda.

Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Bima Arya also confirmed receiving the invitation. "Ya betul, nanti malam" ("Yes, that's right, tonight"), he said. Bima described plenary cabinet sessions as routine forums for evaluating the government's strategic programs. "Kami belum terinfo untuk agendanya. Tapi sidang kabinet paripurna ini kan memang rutin, untuk evaluasi program-program strategis, hanya lokasinya saja yang kali ini berbeda" ("We haven't been informed of the agenda. But plenary cabinet sessions are routine, for evaluating strategic programs — only the location is different this time"), he said.

Head of the Poverty Alleviation Acceleration Agency (BP Taskin) Budiman Sudjatmiko said he only received the invitation notice from Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya on Friday morning. "Ya, ada undangan, tapi belum tahu arahan apa dari Pak Presiden. Baru dapat pemberitahuan dari Pak Seskab pagi ini" ("Yes, there's an invitation, but I don't know what direction the President will give. I just got the notice from the Cabinet Secretary this morning"), he said. Deputy Minister of Transmigration Viva Yoga added that the meeting is a routine agenda for monitoring and controlling the implementation of the President's Asta Cita programs across ministries.

Backdrop: Inaugurations and Market Turmoil

The meeting comes one day after Prabowo inaugurated Gen. Tandyo Budi Revita as Army Chief of Staff (KSAD), replacing Gen. Maruli Simanjuntak who received a new assignment as Deputy Commander of the TNI, on Thursday (10/15/2026). Alongside the strategic military reshuffle, the President also inaugurated four deputy ministers and several government agency heads.

Tonight's meeting also takes place amid domestic financial market turmoil. On Friday morning, the Indonesia Composite Index (IHSG) plunged, triggering a trading halt, after Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI) opened a consultation on reclassifying Indonesia's capital market. The turmoil even prompted House of Representatives Deputy Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, the OJK chief, and the Danantara CEO to visit the IDX building on Friday afternoon.
