Viral Video: Dedi Mulyadi's Motorcade Diverted to Damaged Road
West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi drew public attention after a video of him responding to residents who diverted his motorcade onto a damaged road in Lakbok, Ciamis Regency, spread widely on social media. In the recording shared by the X account @NenkMonica on Friday (10/16/2026), Dedi is seen speaking from inside his car in a raised tone.
The incident occurred while he was resting before continuing his visit to meet residents. The route diversion was described as a form of protest and a way to show the road conditions deemed deplorable. Residents wanted the infrastructure problems they face to get the government's direct attention.
Dedi Stresses Division of Road Authority
In the video, Dedi emphasized that responsibility for road maintenance must follow the status and authority of each level of government. He cited village roads, regency roads, provincial roads, and national roads.
"If you are angry at the regent, be angry at the regent. Don't be angry at the regent and then take it out on the governor. Each has its obligations — village roads, regency roads, provincial roads, national roads. Each has its own obligations," Dedi said in the circulating recording. He also addressed how residents conveyed their aspirations, saying that blocking vehicles as a form of protest should consider ethics and rules.
IDR 16 Billion Budget Prepared, Ciamis Regent Asked to Allocate 2027 Budget
Despite objecting to the residents' methods, Dedi said the damaged-road issue in Ciamis had been followed up. He claimed to have asked a Public Works Department team to calculate the required repair budget, resulting in IDR 11 billion for regency roads and IDR 5 billion for village roads.
Dedi also revealed the West Java Provincial Government's plan to ask Ciamis Regent Herdiat Sunarya to allocate road repair funds in the 2027 regional budget. The incident once again highlights a classic regional infrastructure problem: when damaged roads go unrepaired, the public needs clear complaint channels and real responses from the government according to its authority.
