Missing for 10 Days, Found in PIK 2
The case of a missing 16-year-old vocational high school student identified by her initials DL, a resident of Bantarkalong District in Tasikmalaya Regency, has come to an end after a joint team from Satreskrim Polres Tasikmalaya and Polda Metro Jaya found the victim in a unit at Tokyo PIK 2 Apartment in Tangerang, Banten, on Sunday (11/10/2026). The victim's whereabouts had been unknown for 10 days since Friday night (2/10/2026).
The sequence of events began when DL, a first-year vocational high school student, left his boarding house in Tasikmalaya to buy food but never returned. The family conducted their own search for six days, contacting the victim's relatives and friends, before finally reporting the missing minor to the Bantarkalong Police Station on Thursday (8/10/2026). The report was forwarded to the Tasikmalaya Police for follow-up.
The search was conducted by tracing digital footprints from the victim's old phone, which had been left behind. Police found DL alone in an apartment unit on the 33rd floor. The evacuation process was briefly hampered after officers discovered suspected identity manipulation and falsified registration data for the unit.
The 'Made-to-Order Bride' Scheme
Tasikmalaya Police Chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Ade Papa Rihi revealed that the case was suspected to be a mail-order bride scheme involving a foreign national from China with the initials XM, alias MJ (35). The case was officially escalated to the investigation stage on Thursday (15/10/2026).
Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKP Heru Samsul Bahri explained that the interaction between the victim and the alleged perpetrator began in the digital world. DL downloaded the HelloTalk social app in August 2025, and the owner of the account under the initials MAOJUNKAI began making contact in December 2025, eventually leading to an online romantic relationship.
Through the investigation, police discovered a trail of financial transactions sent by the suspect to facilitate DL's journey from Tasikmalaya to Tangerang. The suspect is said to have lured the victim into leaving secretly without their parents' knowledge or permission, covering all travel expenses.
Victim's Condition and Pursuit of the Perpetrator
When found, DL was in a disturbed mental state, struggling to speak and able to communicate only through sign language. The victim is now being housed at the safe house of Unit PPA Polres Tasikmalaya, with assistance from UPTD PPA Dinas Sosial and KPAID Tasikmalaya. The victim's condition is reported to be gradually improving.
