Mbappe Brace and Guler Elbow Controversy
Real Madrid earned a convincing 4-1 win over Sevilla in La Liga Matchday 9 at the Santiago Bernabéu in the early hours of Monday (19/10/2026) WIB. Arda Güler opened the scoring in the 30th minute with a left-footed strike from Yan Diomande's pass, before Kylian Mbappé doubled the lead seven minutes later with a moment of magic: taking Jude Bellingham's backheel, spinning 180 degrees, rounding the goalkeeper and slotting home.
The first half was not without controversy. Around the 23rd minute, Güler threw an elbow into the face of Peque Fernández as the pair chased the ball. Referee Mateo Busquets Ferrer and VAR decided there was no serious foul, and the ensuing melee ended with yellow cards for Dean Huijsen and Sevilla captain Félix Correia. The decision infuriated the visitors — especially as Güler then became the scorer of the opener.

Mbappe Penalty and Sevilla's Consolation
Madrid sealed the win in the second half. In the 61st minute, Diomande broke clear and was fouled in the box; Mbappé stepped up and coolly chipped the penalty down the middle in the 63rd for his second of the night. Sevilla briefly reduced the arrears through substitute Manu Bueno in the 80th minute, who drove from midfield and fired low into the far corner.
But Madrid's response was instant. Two minutes later, Diomande received the ball on the left and smashed it into the top near corner — the sealing goal in a 4-1 win. The victory was Los Blancos' eighth straight home league triumph.
Valuable Momentum Ahead of El Clasico
The three points cut Real Madrid's gap to leaders Barcelona to six points, exactly one week before the two sides meet in El Clásico. Coach José Mourinho had plenty of good news: Yan Diomande starred in place of the suspended Vinícius Júnior with a goal and an assist, while Éder Militão returned to action after six months out with injury.
For Sevilla, the defeat ended their positive run. Robbie Ure threatened early with a header saved by Thibaut Courtois, and Ruben Vargas came close in the 18th minute, but Madrid's efficiency in the final third proved decisive. Mbappé has now been involved in five goals in five La Liga appearances against Sevilla — four goals and one assist.
