Wishes via Instagram

The 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia (RI), Joko Widodo (Jokowi), extended birthday wishes to President Prabowo Subianto, who turned 75. The message was conveyed by Jokowi through his personal Instagram account, @jokowi, on Sunday (18/10/2026).

The post was accompanied by a photograph of the two attending the Commemoration Ceremony of the Seconds of the Proclamation of the 81st Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta. In his post, Jokowi wrote: 'Happy 75th birthday, Mr. President @prabowo.'

Alongside the birthday greeting, Jokowi offered prayers that Prabowo may always be granted health, long life, and strength in leading Indonesia.

Prominent Figures Offer Congratulations

Prabowo Subianto turned 75 on Saturday (17/10/2026). He was born in Jakarta on October 17, 1951, to Soemitro Djojohadikusumo and Dora Marie Sigar.

Congratulations also arrived from Russian President Vladimir Putin via a Telegram message published on the Kremlin's official website. Putin described Prabowo as a widely respected figure both domestically and internationally, wishing him good health, happiness, and success in state duties. Putin also highlighted strong Russia-Indonesia diplomatic ties, including constructive cooperation across various fields and within BRICS.

Several national figures extended their wishes on October 17 via their respective Instagram accounts, including DPR (House of Representatives) Deputy Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, MPR (People's Consultative Assembly) Speaker Ahmad Muzani, Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure AHY (Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono), Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Muhaimin Iskandar, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs (Menko PMK) Sugiono, and Coordinating Minister for Downstreaming Bahlil Lahadalia. Their prayers resonated in unison: good health, strength, and smooth governance as Prabowo leads Indonesia.

Warm Ties Persist

Jokowi served as President of Indonesia for two terms, from 2014 to 2019 and 2019 to 2024, before being succeeded by Prabowo Subianto. Both frequently exchange greetings on significant occasions, demonstrating that their warm relationship endures.

In June 2026, it was Prabowo's turn to wish Jokowi a happy 65th birthday through social media, complete with prayers and respect for the country's 7th president.

This tradition of exchanging congratulations is not new. In October 2025, Jokowi extended 74th birthday wishes to Prabowo in person before reporters after attending the Anniversary of the Faculty of Forestry at UGM (Gadjah Mada University) in Sleman, offering prayers that Prabowo always be given strength and good health in steering the government, as quoted by Antara.
