Twice Failing to Comply with KPK Summons
Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) Nusron Wahid has twice failed to comply with summonses from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) for questioning as a witness in an alleged bribery case concerning building use rights (HGB) within the Ministry of ATR/BPN involving PT Summarecon Agung Tbk in Bogor Regency. The first summons on Wednesday (October 7, 2026) went unattended due to an internal agenda; the second summons on Thursday (October 15, 2026) went unattended due to an official overseas trip.
Acting Director of Investigation at the KPK Achmad Taufik Husein stated that investigators learned of this from a letter submitted by Nusron's side, which noted Malaysia as the stated travel destination. The KPK is now evaluating the appropriateness of the reason before deciding on the next steps: rescheduling the questioning or issuing a subsequent summons in accordance with the criminal procedure code.
MAKI Reveals Suspected Route via Batam–Singapore
Coordinator of the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) Boyamin Saiman on Saturday (October 17, 2026) suspected that Nusron flew from Jakarta to Batam on Wednesday afternoon (October 14), crossed by ferry to Singapore that evening, and then continued overland to Johor Bahru, Malaysia, on Wednesday night or Thursday morning. He also stated that Nusron was seen using an operational vehicle linked to the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) in Johor Bahru.
Boyamin questioned whether the trip constituted an official working trip and whether it had secured written permission from the President, given that the schedule coincided with the investigators' summons. He urged the KPK to issue a warrant to bring him in.
KPK Evaluates, Eight Suspects Already Named
A warrant to bring someone in is not automatically issued each time a witness fails to appear, Taufik said; investigators are still assessing the validity of Nusron's justification. The KPK has named eight suspects in this case: Sontang Coin Manurung, Fahd El Fouz, Arif Sugiyanto, Adrianto Pitojo Adhi, Lampri, Muhammad Fakhry, Erwin, and Rizal Pahlevi.
Nusron's testimony is needed to further investigate the case construction of the alleged bribery and gratuities related to the processing of HGB for PT Summarecon Agung Tbk. As of now, there has been no official statement from Nusron's side regarding the alleged travel route revealed by MAKI.
