World gold plunges to lowest since August
Unlike the domestic market, world gold prices plunged in trading on October 22, 2026. Spot gold (XAU/USD) fell about 2.3-2.4 percent to the range of US$4,041-US$4,045 per troy ounce — the lowest level since early August 2026.
The weakening was triggered by rising oil prices and inflation concerns ahead of the US central bank's (The Fed) interest rate decision on October 27-28 and the release of PCE data on October 29. The strengthening of the US dollar and the rise in 10-year US Treasury yields to around 5.14 percent made gold — which offers no yield — less attractive to some investors.
Context of price trends
Antam gold prices briefly fell Rp4,000 per gram on October 22 — the third consecutive day of decline — before finally holding steady today. Meanwhile, on the Pluang platform, the buying price for 1 gram of Antam gold was recorded at Rp2,321,683 on the morning of October 23, down Rp4,374 from the previous day.
The divergence between international and domestic market movements shows that global price changes are not always immediately reflected in domestic precious metal products on the same day. The rupiah exchange rate, product pricing structures, and providers' pricing policies also influence domestic prices.
