Juku Eja's First Win

BANTUL — PSM Makassar finally ended their winless run in the 2026/2027 BRI Super League. Playing away at Sultan Agung Stadium, Bantul, on Friday (16/10/2026), the team nicknamed Juku Eja beat hosts PSIM Yogyakarta 2-1 on matchday five.

It was a hard-fought win. PSM had to finish the match with 10 men after captain Dušan Lagator was shown a straight red card in the 79th minute, but Darije Kalezic's squad held on until the final whistle.

The result ends PSM's negative streak — they had drawn 3-3 with Arema FC, 2-2 with Persita Tangerang, then suffered a heavy 0-3 defeat to PSS Sleman to open the season.

Two Quick Second-Half Goals

The first half ended goalless. PSM created two decent chances — a Luka Bulatovic shot sailed over the bar in the 17th minute, while Fahrul Aditia's 42nd-minute header from a cross drifted wide of the PSIM goal guarded by Cahya Supriadi.

The deadlock broke five minutes after the restart. Fahrul Aditia opened the scoring in the 50th minute with a low left-footed strike the PSIM keeper could not stop, finishing a swift counterattack built through midfield.

The visitors doubled their lead in the 66th minute. From a Rizky Eka pass on another counterattack, Stefan Jevtoski controlled the ball before firing home to make it 2-0 for Juku Eja.

Red Card and PSIM's Penalty

Disaster struck PSM in the 79th minute when captain Dušan Lagator was shown a straight red card, forcing the visitors to play with 10 men for the remainder. With the man advantage, Jean-Paul van Gastel's PSIM raised their intensity.

The hosts' pressure earned them a penalty. Ze Valente stepped up and converted in the 82nd minute to make it 1-2, reviving Laskar Mataram's hopes.

But PSIM could not find an equalizer. PSM's defense, marshalled by goalkeeper Muhammad Ardiansyah, stood firm against the late onslaught to secure the season's first three points.

PSIM Sinking, PSM Look to Persebaya

The three points lift PSM to five points from five matches and into the middle of the table. The win provides important momentum for the Makassar side to climb further.

By contrast, the home defeat leaves PSIM in deeper trouble. Laskar Mataram remain without a single win — one point from five matches and anchored in the relegation zone.

PSM next face a tough test against Persebaya Surabaya on Thursday (22/10/2026), while PSIM must regroup quickly to avoid sinking further.
