Two Straight Games over Thailand
Indonesia's men's doubles pair Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri delivered a solid performance to secure a semifinal spot at the Denmark Open 2026. Facing Peeratchai Sukphun/Pakkapon Teeratsakul of Thailand in the quarterfinals on Friday (16/10/2026), the third seeds won in straight games 21-17, 21-16.
The first game was tightly contested. Fajar/Fikri briefly led 8-3 before the Thai pair fought back and flipped the lead to 10-8. After the interval, the back-and-forth battle continued until the score was tied at 17-17, before Fajar/Fikri claimed four straight points to close out the first game 21-17.
In the second game, Fajar/Fikri led 11-9 at the interval and maintained their lead until 16-13. They then collected point after point to reach game point at 20-13 before closing out the match with a 21-16 victory.

Three Consecutive Wins Without Dropping a Game
The victory over the Thai pair added to Fajar/Fikri's impressive record in Odense. Since the first round, they have won three consecutive matches without dropping a single game — positive momentum heading into the semifinal clash.
In the round of 32, Fajar/Fikri defeated Kim Astrup/Anders Skaarup Rasmussen of Denmark 24-22, 21-14. In the round of 16, they went on to eliminate another Danish pair, Christian Faust Kjaer/Rasmus Kjaer, 21-19, 21-10.
The result made Fajar/Fikri the first Indonesian representatives to advance to the semifinals of the Denmark Open 2026, a BWF World Tour Super 750-level tournament held from October 13–18, 2026.
Faces China's Second Seed in the Semifinal
A tough challenge awaits in the semifinals. On Saturday (17/10/2026), Fajar/Fikri will face second seeds Liang Wei Keng/Wang Chang of China on Court 1. The match is fourth on the order of play, while the first match on Court 1 begins at 14.00 WIB.
A victory over the Chinese pair would pave the way for Fajar/Fikri to reach the final match on Sunday (18/10/2026), while keeping Indonesia's hopes alive of bringing home the title from Odense.
Indonesia's Only Hope
Fajar/Fikri are now Indonesia's only hope in the Denmark Open 2026 semifinals. The country's two other representatives were stopped in the quarterfinals: men's singles player Alwi Farhan fell, while women's singles player Putri Kusuma Wardani had to acknowledge her opponent's resilience.
Putri KW briefly led 11-3 early in the match, but failed to maintain the advantage and was ultimately eliminated. As a result, all hopes of the Red-and-White contingent in Odense now rest on the third-seeded men's doubles pair.
