Motorcycle Repossession Triggers Brawl
BANDUNG — A near-open clash between a debt collector (DC) and a group of members of a community organization (ormas) occurred in Jalan Mohammad Toha, Regol district, Bandung City, on Friday (16/10/2026) night. The incident caused people around panic and traffic streams dropped, even one of the members of the massly burned tyres in the middle of the road.
The incident began when a group of debt collectors repossessed a motorcycle from a debtor of financing company FIF whose vehicle was still under an installment plan. The vehicle owner resisted the repossession, escalating tensions and sparking a commotion on the street.
The question arose after alleged challenges from an elephant's eye (matel) to Paguyuban Cepot Motah General Chief, Tommy Subagja. Tommy together with about 100 members of paguyuban then came to the office of PT Brothers in the Moch Road. Toha to ask for clarification and promote the settlement of the debtor's question.

Police Intervene, 1 Person Detained
Kabag Ops Polrestabes Bandung AKBP Asep Saepudin said police personnel were immediately deployed to the location to secure the situation. When officers arrived, crowds from both sides gradually dispersed.
"Alhamdulillah, when we get to the location, from ormas can be orderly dissolved and from DC as well," said Asep in Mapolrestabes Bandung.
Anton said the police had secure one person who allegedly provoked the mass and took him to Mapolrestabes Bandung for further inspection. "While a new one yes, this was the one who allegedly made a challenge," Anton said, asserting that investigators still understood the evidence of the person who was secure as well as thoroughly investigated the causes and network of incidents of the collapse.
Debtor Admits Arrears, Objects to Repossession Fee
According to statements from the debtor at the scene, the individual admitted to still having outstanding vehicle installment obligations and having experienced payment delays. However, the debtor objected to the demanded vehicle repossession fees and had attempted to resolve the issue through negotiations to avoid undue additional financial burdens.
Tommy Subagja expressed outrage after receiving information regarding the vehicle repossession process and the fees the debtor must bear. The debtor's prior communication efforts with the relevant parties were reportedly unable to provide clarity on resolving the issue.
Police have urged the public to resolve vehicle repossession disputes through legal channels rather than resorting to mass mobilization or violence.
