PSM Beat PSIM 2-1 at Sultan Agung Stadium
PSM Makassar claimed their first win of the season after defeating PSIM Yogyakarta 2-1 in week five of the 2026/2027 Super League. The match, held at Sultan Agung Stadium in Bantul on Friday (16/10/2026) afternoon WIB, took place without spectators.
The two goals that gave Juku Eja — PSM's nickname — the win were scored by Achmat Fahrul Aditia in the 50th minute and Stefan Jevtoski in the 66th minute. PSIM managed to pull one back through a penalty from Jose Pedro Magalhaes Valente in the 82nd minute, but failed to find an equalizer before the match ended.

How the Match Unfolded: Up by Two Goals, PSM Lose Lagator
The first half was a hard-fought affair that ended goalless. The only notable moment of the opening half was a yellow card shown to PSIM player Alwi Fadilah in the 35th minute. PSIM, playing as the hosts, dominated possession but failed to break down PSM's tight defense.
The deadlock was broken five minutes after the restart. Achmat Fahrul Aditia put PSM 1-0 up in the 50th minute, before Stefan Jevtoski doubled the lead to 2-0 in the 66th minute. Disaster struck PSM in the 79th minute when Dusan Lagator was shown a straight red card, forcing the visitors to play with 10 men.
Playing with a numerical advantage, PSIM stepped up the pressure and was awarded a penalty in the 82nd minute, which Jose Pedro Magalhaes Valente executed to perfection. The 1-2 scoreline held until the final whistle, even as the hosts continued their onslaught in the remaining time of the match.
PSM's First Win, PSIM Sinks Deeper
This result marks PSM Makassar's first win of the season. Previously, Darije Kalezic's side had collected two draws and two defeats from their opening four matches. The additional three points mean PSM have now collected 5 points from five matches and moved away from the bottom of the standings.
In contrast, PSIM Yogyakarta under Jean-Paul van Gastel have sunk further into the bottom of the table. Laskar Mataram — as PSIM are nicknamed — have yet to record a win this season, with one draw and four defeats, leaving them stuck on 1 point. Ironically, PSIM dominated possession at 68 percent and fired off eight shots, but failed to convert their chances into goals.
Next Fixture: PSM to Host Persebaya
PSM Makassar will host Persebaya Surabaya on matchday six, Thursday (22/10/2026). The win over PSIM serves as a confidence boost for Juku Eja, although they will have to play without Dusan Lagator, who is serving a suspension after receiving a red card.
Meanwhile, PSIM Yogyakarta is under pressure to bounce back quickly in their next match. The winless run in the first five weeks serves as a wake-up call for Laskar Mataram to improve their finishing and consistency of play.
