Dramatic Victory in Cairo

Indonesia's mixed doubles pair Muhammad Luthfi Habibi/Dian Ramadhani Mukti captured the BWF 2026 World Junior Championships title after defeating China's Yi Lang Feng/Meng Han Li. The three-game final at Cairo International Stadium, Egypt, on Saturday (10/17/2026) ended 17-15, 8-15, 16-14 in Indonesia's favor.

The victory confirms Indonesia as champion and makes Luthfi/Dian the fifth Indonesian mixed doubles pair to win the World Junior Championships — repeating the glorious achievements of their predecessors with tactics, mentality, and fitness tested against China's top pair.

Comeback From the Brink

The first game was tight with both pairs trading points. Luthfi/Dian, trailing 14-15, rallied to close out the game 17-15 with lethal attacks. But in the second game, Feng/Li dominated and took it comfortably 15-8.

The decider was the real drama. Feng/Li led 14-11, one point from the title. Luthfi/Dian showed championship mentality, closing the gap to 14-14. The winning point came from Dian's quick interception at the net that the opponents couldn't return, followed by Li's error hitting the shuttle into the net. The 16-14 score secured the world junior title for Indonesia.

Tough Road From the Semifinal

The road to the title was not easy. In the semifinal, Luthfi/Dian had to battle through a rubber game to eliminate Taiwan's Wei Ting Lee/Yu Hsi Chen 13-15, 16-14, 16-14. Composure at critical points was this Cipayung national training center pair's hallmark throughout the tournament.

Meanwhile, fellow Indonesian mixed doubles pair Raihan Daffa Edsel Pramono/Atresia Naufa Anjani settled for bronze after losing to Feng/Li in the semifinal in straight games, 11-15, 14-16.

All-Indonesian Men's Singles Final

Good news also came from men's singles, where two Indonesian representatives met in the final: Radithya Bayu Wardhana against Fardhan Rainanda Joe. Fardhan reached the final after eliminating top seed Mady Sow of France 11-15, 15-8, 16-14 on Friday (10/16) evening local time.

Having two Indonesian representatives in the championship match ensures Indonesia adds another title at the 2026 World Junior Championships individual event, confirming Indonesian badminton's dominance at the world junior level this year.
