One Officer Detained, Motive Under Investigation

The alleged perpetrator, identified by the initials AR, who is also a Polri officer, has been secured and detained at the Violent Crimes Sub-directorate (Subdit Jatanras) of Ditreskrimum Polda Metro Jaya. Circulating information suggests that AR was the victim's junior in the same unit.

The police have not yet detailed the chronological sequence of events or confirmed the motive behind the violent act. 'Investigators continue to look into the series of events to uncover the facts and ensure the legal process proceeds according to applicable regulations,' Budi said. Polda Metro Jaya emphasized that the investigation is being carried out professionally, transparently, objectively, and accountably.

According to a circulating report, the perpetrator allegedly fired four shots into the victim's body, shot him in the head, and then slashed his neck with a knife brought from home, before finally turning himself in to the Police Provost Unit (Unit Provos). Police have not yet officially confirmed these details.

Family Suspects Premeditated Murder

Legal counsel for the victim's family, Petrus Bala Pattyona, suspects that the incident constitutes premeditated murder. He urged investigators to examine the potential involvement of other parties. 'We hope this case will be brought fully to light, regarding who the perpetrators are and what the motive was. This is a premeditated murder case, and it is likely not committed by just one person,' Petrus stated on Sunday (18/10/2026).

Petrus noted that his team found gunshot wounds as well as sharp weapon injuries on the victim's body. Police were also reported to have seized evidence consisting of a bayonet and firearms from the scene. 'It is impossible for one person to use three weapons at the same time,' he remarked. The legal team plans to visit Polda Metro Jaya on Monday (19/10/2026) to inquire about the progress of the case handling.

Laid to Rest in East Flores

Bharada Valdo's body was returned to his hometown in East Flores on Saturday (17/10/2026) and buried in the San Dominggo area on Sunday (18/10/2026), attended by family members and local residents. The passing of the young officer has left deep sorrow.

Director of Air Police of the National Police Security Maintenance Agency's Marine and Air Police Corps (Direktur Poludara Korpolairud Baharkam Polri), Brigadier General (Brigjen) Dadan, affirmed the commitment to thoroughly investigate the case. The family hopes all facts will be revealed and that any guilty parties will be held accountable under the law.
