Fenerbahce Race Into 2-0 Lead Inside 11 Minutes

Fenerbahce were held to a 2-2 draw by Slavia Prague in UEFA Champions League 2026/2027 league-phase matchday 3 at Chobani Stadium, Istanbul, on Tuesday (20/10/2026). The hosts threw away a two-goal lead built inside the opening 11 minutes.

Only four minutes were on the clock when Oğuz Aydın fired Fenerbahce 1-0 up, finishing off Milan Skriniar's pass. Seven minutes later, Mason Greenwood doubled the advantage with a clinical finish after linking up with Nelson Semedo — 2-0 to the home side.

The perfect start had the Istanbul crowd roaring. Fenerbahce looked confident after last week's 6-0 humiliation at Aston Villa, and a first league-phase win seemed only a matter of time.

Provod Pulls One Back, Kacor Strikes Late

Slavia refused to lie down. In the 15th minute, Lukáš Provod halved the deficit to 2-1 after Mateo Guendouzi committed a horror error, losing the ball on the edge of his own box — a blunder the visitors ruthlessly punished.

The 2-1 scoreline held until half-time. Fenerbahce tried to control the game in the second half, but Slavia kept pressing for an equaliser.

The drama came at the death. In the 90th minute, Pavel Kacor struck the equaliser to silence Chobani Stadium. Slavia, 2-0 down early on, left with a precious point.

Fenerbahce Still Winless

The draw extends Fenerbahce's poor start in this season's Champions League. The Portuguese-coached side drew 1-1 with AS Roma on the opening matchday before being hammered 6-0 by Aston Villa — and now failed to win again despite leading by two goals.

Slavia Prague are also yet to taste victory: the Czech side lost 2-3 to Lens and 0-2 to Sabah in their first two games. But a point in Istanbul is valuable capital for climbing the league-phase table.

For a Fenerbahce side boasting big names like Ederson, N'Golo Kante and Romelu Lukaku, the pressure is mounting. Three games without a win leaves their round-of-16 hopes fading.
