Skipping KPK, Appearing at the Palace

JAKARTA — Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) Nusron Wahid attended a Plenary Cabinet Meeting in the central courtyard of the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, on Wednesday (21/10/2026). The meeting, chaired by President Prabowo Subianto, was held to mark the two-year milestone of the Prabowo-Gibran Rakabuming Raka administration.

Nusron's presence drew scrutiny as it came six days after he failed to comply with two summonses from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) for questioning as a witness in an alleged bribery case concerning building use rights (HGB) for PT Summarecon Agung Tbk.

According to a YouTube broadcast by the Presidential Secretariat, Nusron was seen wearing a white shirt and a black peci (traditional cap). He sat in the third row at a desk designated by his nameplate as Minister of ATR/BPN.

Unseen by Media at Main Entrance

Nusron's arrival went unnoticed by media crews stationed at the main gate of the Palace complex. His presence was only discovered once he was already at the cabinet meeting venue.

He sat adjacent to several state officials, including Minister of Manpower Yassierli, Head of the Special Development Control and Investigation Agency (Bappisus) Aris Marsudiyanto, Head of the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) Rachmat Pambudy, and Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Lt. Gen. Kristomei Sianturi.

Previously, Nusron was not seen passing through the pillared entrance typically used by ministers of the Red and White Cabinet to access the event venue.

Skipped Twice: October 7 and 15

The KPK first scheduled Nusron's examination for Wednesday (7/10/2026). He did not attend, citing an internal agenda at the Ministry of ATR/BPN.

Investigators then rescheduled the questioning for Thursday (15/10/2026). Nusron again failed to appear; he was said to be in Malaysia for an official duty trip. The KPK briefly classified the absence as skipping without notice because it had not received official confirmation on the day of the summons.

“Naturally, all the reasons submitted will be reviewed and analyzed by investigators regarding their propriety,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the KPK Red and White Building on Tuesday (20/10/2026).

KPK Weighs Next Summons

Budi stated that investigators are still weighing next steps to obtain the necessary testimony from Nusron, including the possibility of issuing a follow-up summons accompanied by a warrant to bring him in.

“Of course, we hope that the person concerned will be cooperative in the legal process, particularly regarding matters related to this Ministry of ATR/BPN,” Budi said.

The KPK also clarified that it cannot yet request an overseas travel ban against Nusron because his status is still that of a witness. Under the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP), travel bans can only be imposed on suspects.

This case involves alleged bribery in obtaining HGB permits for PT Summarecon Agung Tbk in Bogor Regency. The KPK has named eight suspects, including the President Director of PT Summarecon Agung Tbk, Adrianto Pitojo Adhi. In a sting operation on September 14, 2026, the KPK seized approximately Rp106.3 billion in cash.

The KPK additionally denied a viral video claiming Nusron was forcibly picked up at Soekarno-Hatta Airport. Budi emphasized that the footage did not depict actions taken by KPK investigators.
