Official letter sent Tuesday, confirmed Wednesday

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) sent an official letter to Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) Commander General Agus Subiyanto on Tuesday (20/10/2026) to coordinate the handling of alleged corruption in disaster ready funds (DSP - dana siap pakai) at the National Disaster Management Authority (BNPB) involving active TNI soldiers.

KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto confirmed the dispatch of the letter to reporters on Wednesday (21/10/2026). 'It is true, KPK sent a letter to the TNI Commander yesterday,' Setyo stated. Previously, on Friday (16/10/2026), Acting KPK Director of Investigation Achmad Taufik Husein stated that KPK would send a letter because this case concerns active soldiers and handling the matter requires synergy rather than separate, isolated investigations.

Contents of the letter: Case construction to money flows

KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo disclosed the contents of the letter on Wednesday (21/10/2026). In the letter, KPK outlined the construction of the case, including the suspected involvement of military rogue elements in the procurement of goods and services within BNPB that allegedly entailed conflicts of interest and bribery practices, including the suspected flow of funds.

'In the letter, we outline how the case is constructed, including the suspected involvement of military rogue elements in goods and services procurements within BNPB, which are then suspected of involving conflicts of interest or bribery practices,' Budi said. He expressed confidence that the Military Police Command (Puspom TNI) will promptly follow up on these findings, aligned with the intensive coordination between the two institutions from the outset.

Former BNPB Chief's position presented to Military Police

KPK has outlined the position of former BNPB Chief Lieutenant General Suharyanto to Puspom TNI representatives during case presentations on October 13 and 14, 2026, including to the attending Puspom investigative unit. Suharyanto remains an active TNI soldier.

The BNPB sting operation (OTT - operasi tangkap tangan) case has ensnared five suspects, including Bima Setiawan, an expert staff member and the younger brother of former BNPB Chief Suharyanto, who is suspected of having affiliations with goods and services providers in DSP procurements valued at approximately Rp148 billion over the 2024-2026 period.
