Til's 57th-Minute Goal the Difference

PSV Eindhoven snatched a precious victory on matchday 3 of the 2026/2027 UEFA Champions League league phase. Guus Til's solitary goal in the 57th minute gave Peter Bosz's side a 1-0 win over FC Porto at the Estádio do Dragão, Porto, early Wednesday morning (21/10/2026) WIB. It was PSV's first Champions League win of the season.

The winning goal came from fine teamwork. Esmir Bajraktarević built the attack, and his shot hit the Porto post before the ball fell to Sven Mijnans, who laid on a perfect pass for Guus Til to finish with a tap-in — the match's only goal.

Porto were not without resistance. The hosts fired 14 shots with four on target, despite only 40 percent possession. But chance after chance came to nothing against PSV's inspired goalkeeper.

Kovář and Goal-Line Blocks Save PSV

PSV goalkeeper Matěj Kovář was an impenetrable wall at the Dragão with a string of important saves. When Kovář was beaten, the defence stood guard: Sergiño Dest and Lutsharel Geertruida made crucial blocks right on the goal line to protect the lead.

PSV were actually the more dominant side with 60 percent possession and 18 shots, though only three were on target. The clean sheet was also PSV's first after 19 consecutive Champions League matches in which they had always conceded — an important milestone for the Dutch side's defence.

Pointless Porto, First Win for PSV

The result leaves Porto sunk without a single point from three matches. Defeats of 0-2 to Manchester City and 2-3 to Real Betis had already placed the Portuguese side outside the qualification zone, and the home loss to PSV further thins their hopes.

PSV, by contrast, can now breathe easy with their first win and first clean sheet. Peter Bosz's men return from Portugal with valuable momentum ahead of the remaining league-phase matches.

The win is also an important morale boost for PSV, who began the league phase with underwhelming results. With their first three points in hand, Peter Bosz's men open up a bigger chance to compete for a place in the next round.
